The NHU’s popular ‘Dues Checker’ updated with latest employer data on wage scales and resultant union dues

Posted August 3, 2010

Our ever-popular ‘Dues Checker’ has now been updated with the latest data from the June 2010 employer print-off, allowing NHU members to see just how and where their dues money is collected.

Union dues are the lifeblood of every union. Each of our members pays his or her fair share, so that everybody gains. We believe, and we've shown, that careful and efficient use of every dollar of dues income can enable us to steadily increase services while maintaining an effective and financially-healthy union.

As part of our Union’s commitment to full transparency, individual NHU members are able to view their most current dues assessment and understand the splitting of this global amount between our bargaining agent, the Public Service Alliance of Canada, the NHU and the member’s own Local.

The ‘Dues Checker’ sets out the dues structure for each NHU Local or Sub-Local across the country. This service is accessible either by clicking the ‘Dues Checker’ icon on the right-hand-side of each page, or by clicking on the title under the ‘Services’ tab on our main menu to the left.

Bear in mind that, in calculating percentage dues, you should apply the lowest level/step of your particular classification (and not your current level/step).

The NHU National Office reviews dues data on a twice-yearly in order to adjust the information contained in our ‘Dues Checker’.
