Members mark CSCHAH anniversary with gift to inner-city youth centre

Especially at this time of year, one recalls the adage that “it is better to give than to receive”. That was indeed the case when Canadian Science Centre for Human and Animal Health in Winnipeg recently marked its tenth anniversary.

Our members joined with other employees in collecting funds for a generous gift to Rossbrook House, a neighbourhood centre for children and youth. Both the CSCHAH and Rossbrook are located in Winnipeg's inner-city.

Rossbrook offers a variety of recreational, arts, cultural, women's and employment development programs. The centre “offers a constant alternative to the destructive environment of the streets” in an economically-challenged downtown area rife with drugs, prostitution and street gangs.

The above photo, which appeared in the Winnipeg Sun newspaper, shows Rossbrook House co-executive director Phil Chiappetta surrounded by some of the CSCHAH employees after being presented with a cheque in the amount of $7,500.
